Anna Kalas
eMarketing Associate
AKA “Keen Kalas“
With responsibilities at Spark451 that include proofreading emails, verifying the accuracy of email content, and helping to review and deploy texts, emails, and surveys, Anna relies on her ability to pay close attention to detail and stay organized to ensure that all of our clients benefit from the highest-quality eMarketing. In addition to earning a BBA with a focus in marketing from LIM College in NYC, she gained valuable experience as a junior marketing associate on the Maybelline team at L’Oreal and as a product development intern at Makeup by Mario, where Anna built the skills she utilizes in her current role.
A creative problem solver, Anna remains positive in stressful situations — a talent that is helpful both professionally and personally. Outside of work, she enjoys baking and cooking for friends and family, and taught herself how to knit this past winter.
How has your own college education directly translated to success at Spark451 and why?
My college education helped prepare me for success at Spark451. I gained valuable skills through diverse projects involving real-world companies and had the opportunity to have multiple internships, where I was involved in creating marketing campaigns, analyzing data through market research, and experiencing product launches. All of these opportunities have allowed me to integrate seamlessly into my career in marketing.
What do you love most about working in higher education and why?
I love that I am part of the process of helping students pick their potential schools. A positive college experience can open great career opportunities and develop your innate life potential. I can easily relate to them and understand their interests, as I was in their place applying to colleges not too long ago.
When you aren’t busy being a Sparkler, what is something that you like to do and why?
I love being out in nature. I will usually find a cool hiking trail where I can take my dog with me. Sometimes, I will stop and find a place to read my book.
What is your favorite quote? Why?
“Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow.” — Vincent Van Gogh
This quote has always resonated with me. Expressing yourself is a beautiful thing. It emphasizes the importance of standing out from the crowd.
